Hokua Health LLC — last updated October 19, 2026

This policy explains what information I collect when you visit hokuahealth.com or work with me, what I do with it, and what you can ask me to do with it. No fine print, no surprises.

I collect as little as I can and I never sell your information. That's the short version; the details follow.

What I collect

The contact form on this site asks for your first and last name, email address, phone number, and your message.

The intake form asks more — what you're experiencing, how long it's been going on, your sleep, energy, stress, diet, support, and other personal background, along with your typed name and signature. This information is personal by nature, and I treat it that way.

If you download my doctoral dissertation from the Research page, I collect the email address you give me so the document can reach you.

Once we're working together, I also keep notes from our sessions and the messages we exchange.

Why I collect it

Only so I can do the work well:

Consent

You choose what to share, and you give it knowingly — the intake form asks for your agreement before you submit it. You can withdraw that consent at any time by writing to me, and I'll act on it.

You don't have to give information beyond what's needed, and you can leave optional questions blank.

Where your information lives

Submissions from this site are stored in a private, access-controlled database that only my practice can read, and are delivered to me by email. The site itself runs on Lovable, and email is sent through a secure provider.

I don't sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone, ever. I share it only with the small number of services that make this site and my email work — for hosting, secure storage, and message delivery — and only to the extent they need to.

Cookies and the video and map embeds

This site doesn't run advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies of its own. There's no cookie banner because there's nothing to consent to beyond the embeds below.

A few pages include a video or a map from YouTube or Google. When one of those loads, that service may set its own cookies and record your IP address under its own privacy policy. If you'd prefer to avoid that, you can skip the video or map on the page — everything else still works.

How long I keep it

I keep your information only as long as I need to — while we're working together, and afterwards for as long as is reasonable to keep records of the work, honour commitments you've asked me to, and meet my own professional obligations. When those reasons end, it goes.

What you can ask me to do

You have real control over your information. Write to me at Heal@HokuaHealth.com and ask me to:

How I protect it

This site is served over an encrypted connection, access to stored submissions is restricted to my practice, and the forms on the site are protected against automated abuse. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so I keep what I collect to the minimum and don't ask for information I don't need.

Please don't send me anything urgent or crisis-related by email or through the contact form — those aren't monitored as emergency channels.

Not a medical record

The notes and intake information I keep are wellness records for the work we do together. They aren't a medical chart, and they aren't a substitute for the records your healthcare providers keep for you.

Children

This website and its forms are for adults. I don't knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18.

I do work with children in two ways: a parent or guardian may book a session and act as the surrogate for their child, and young people who are old enough to understand and follow directions — for example teenagers — may take part in a session directly. In both cases, the booking and any information shared comes from the parent or guardian, who stays in charge of that information. If you'd like anything about your child removed, write to me and I'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top. Nothing changes quietly — the current version is always the one you're reading here.

Contact

Any question about your information, or about anything in this policy, goes to Dr. Kate Schmidle, PhD at Heal@HokuaHealth.com or (727) 288-6880. I'll answer within 30 days.
